SEOUL Lorenzo Cain Brewers Jersey , Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating rebounded in five weeks on Moon's meeting with opposition party leaders to discuss security issues, a poll showed Monday.

According to the Realmeter survey, support for Moon was 67.7 percent last week, up 2.1 percentage points from a week earlier.

It was based on a poll of 2,523 voters conducted from last Monday to Friday. It had 2 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.

Moon's support ended the downward trend for the past four weeks, during which tensions escalated on the Korean Peninsula following the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s nuclear and missile tests.

The rebound was mainly attributed to Moon's meeting last week with chiefs of the four opposition parties to discuss security issues. The main opposition Liberty Korea Party head refused to attend the meeting.

Moon's ruling Democratic Party maintained its top post with 49.7 percent of support scores.

It was followed by the Liberty Korea Party with 17.1 percent.

The centrist People's Party got 6.6 percent in support scores, with the minor conservative Righteous Party and the minor progressive Justice Party garnering 5.6 percent and 6 percent respectively.

The head of women's tennis has -condemned Madrid Open organizers for allowing controversial Romanian Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase to take part in the trophy presentation ceremony -following Saturday's women's singles final.

The 70-year-old is under investigation by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) following last month's Fed Cup tie with Britain, where he swore at members of the opposing team and made a derogatory remark about Serena Williams' unborn child.

However, the former world No.1 shared the stage with Madrid champion and compatriot Simona Halep, who -defended her title with a 7-5, 6-7 (57), 6-2 victory over Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic.

"It was an exciting final match and I heartily congratulate Simona and Kristina for their outstanding display of tennis," Women's Tennis Association (WTA) CEO Steve Simon said in a statement on the governing body's website (http:www.wtatennis).

"The only shadow cast on the day was Mr Nastase's invitation to participate in today's award ceremony. He had no place on court today."

"He is currently under a provisional suspension by the ITF for his prior -offensive actions and we revoked his -credential privileges at WTA events while the investigation is being completed."

Following the incidents at the World Group playoff tie in Constanta, the French Open announced that Nastase would not be given accreditation to this year's tournament, while Wimbledon -organizers have also moved to deny him entry to their event.

Simon expressed his disappointment that the Madrid Open had adopted a more relaxed approach toward the Romanian.

"It was both irresponsible and unacceptable of the Madrid Open to bestow him an official role," he said.

"The Madrid tournament is a Premier--level event and held to the -highest standards of professional tennis and leadership which were not reflected today."

ROME, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Italy's auto sector had its best month in years in July, when production increased by more than a fifth compared to the same month last year, but economists say the benefits for the overall economy are indirect rather than direct.

According to the latest statistics, auto sales in July were 20.1 percent higher compared to July 2014. The year-on-year increase was nearly double the jump for the next strongest sector, energy, and enough that ISTAT, Italy's National Statistics Institute, called the auto sector a "steroid" with a big impact on overall industrial production, which rose 2.7 percent in July but would have been around zero growth if it didn't include auto production.

Italy's auto sector has just one major player, Turin-based Fiat, and there was a time when Fiat was such an industrial powerhouse that a jump like this would have had a major impact on overall economic growth projections and on the performance of the Italian Stock Exchange.

As recently as 1999, Italy produced 1.4 million cars, compared to around 400,000 last year when Spain, Britain, France and Germany all produced more than 2 million cards each.

"There's no doubt that a development like this is positive, but the auto sector isn't as important as it once was in Italy," Andrea Giuricin, a Milan-based economist and a fellow with the Bruno Leoni Institute think tank, told Xinhua. "It has implications for car resellers, parts makers, and so on. But the main implication may be about what is says about consumer confidence."

Because almost all car sales in Italy are to owners replacing an older vehicle, most consumers can delay new car purchases if they are unsure they can afford a newer model. According to Paolo Pietro Biancone, an economist wit the University of Turin, the fact that so many more decided to replace their old cars in July compared to the year before is a co.
